6th September 2005

Both the Y (225) and AY (227) type models were introduced into the EFE range in 1996. The releases have so far not reflected the strong Scottish connection associated with this coaches. Operators from south of the border have been represented although a number of the vehicles depicted started life with Scottish owners.

The Y type was first introduced in the late 1960's and the unusual forward slanting side windows became a familiar sight on the roads of Britain. During the 1970's the AY type was introduced which featured a revised front grille. Alexander bodywork had always been a popular choice of the Scottish Bus Co fleets, and the Y and AY types were to follow this trend. In later life many of these vehicles were downgraded for use on bus services.
